Voters can submit questions for candidates starting today

Phoenix, AZ - August 08, 2024

Clean Elections, Arizona's official non-partisan debate sponsor announced the release of the general election debates schedule and invited the voters to weigh in with their questions for candidates for the U.S. Senate and other important offices.

The general election candidate debate lineup is robust. It includes federal and statewide races, city mayoral races, county-level races as well as the Central Arizona Water Conservation District Maricopa County seats, and the Corporation Commission.

“These debates are more important than ever. Voters in Arizona could determine who controls the direction of the U.S. Senate, the U.S. Congress, and the state legislature,” said Clean Elections Voter Education Director, Gina Roberts. “We anticipate participation from candidates to be even stronger than our primary election debates and look forward to collaborating with each respective candidate campaign to reach as many voters as possible.”

As a result of a first-ever collaboration with the Arizona Media Association (AMA), an assembly of more than 529 media brands, the debates for the 2024 general election will be available digitally, on-demand and on live television, in addition legislative candidate debates can be accessed on the Clean Elections YouTube channel.

“While our intention is that voters participate by viewing the debates, they also have the opportunity to shape the debate discussion because they can send us questions for candidates now. Each question will be reviewed and considered by our debate moderators as we prepare for the upcoming debate series,” emphasized Roberts.

Voters can submit their questions for the debates via email at [email protected] or by calling 602-364-3477 (toll-free at 877-631-8891). Media entities interested in debate carriage and coverage can contact Nate Kelly at the Arizona Media Association at [email protected].

The debates schedule can be viewed on the Clean Elections website. Dates and times change to accommodate candidate schedules, so the public is encouraged to revisit the schedule to see the most up to date candidate participation confirmations, debate dates and times.

The collaboration with the Arizona Media Association (AMA) makes debates more accessible than ever. Content from major debates will be simulcast, and all others will be distributed digitally throughout the state. In addition, accessibility is a top priority for debate organizers. Debates include Spanish audio translation, American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation, and real time captioning to ensure accessibility for all Arizonans. The goal is wider reach and engagement across various platforms.
