Arizona Voting Guide
Being prepared to vote is one of the most effective ways to make your voice heard. Every election is an opportunity to shape the future of your community, and preparation ensures you can do so with confidence. That’s why we created the voting tools, which are resources designed to simplify the voting process and answer common questions. From registering to vote and checking your ballot to finding your voting location, these tools make it easy for every eligible voter in Arizona to be election-ready.
When you’re informed, you’re empowered. And when every voter feels confident about participating, democracy grows stronger.
Step 1: Register to Vote or Check Your Status
The first step toward becoming ballot ready is confirming that your registration is current. If you’ve moved, changed your name, or haven’t voted in a while, your registration may need an update.
Through the Voter Dashboard, you can quickly check your registration status, confirm your party affiliation, and review your voting eligibility. It’s also where you can find your voter ID number, see whether your ballot has been mailed or received, and locate your county’s election resources, all in one convenient place.
If you’re new to voting, registering online is fast and secure. You’ll just need your Arizona driver’s license or state ID card. You can also register by mail or in person at your county recorder’s office.Tip: Registration deadlines vary by election, so check early and mark your calendar to avoid missing out. Don’t miss an election deadline or ballot information by signing up for our newsletter & text messages.
Step 2: Know What’s on Your Ballot
Understanding your ballot helps you make informed choices. In Arizona, ballots can include everything from school district overrides and city propositions to state measures and local leadership races, each one shaping the direction of your community.
To help you prepare, we offer tools like Find My Candidate and Elections By Date, which allow you to explore candidate profiles, learn about propositions, and see precisely what you’ll be voting for before Election Day.
Our goal is to make sure every voter has the information needed to cast a confident, informed ballot.
Step 3: Make a Voting Plan
Voting is easiest when you plan ahead. With multiple ways to vote in Arizona, you can choose the option that best fits your schedule and comfort level.
Here’s how to plan your vote:
- Vote by Mail: If you’re on the Active Early Voting List (AEVL), you’ll automatically receive a ballot in the mail. You can return it by mail (no later than seven days before Election Day) or drop it off at a secure location within your county.
- Vote Early In Person: Early voting sites are open for several weeks before Election Day, offering flexible options to cast your ballot ahead of time.
- Vote on Election Day: Many Arizona counties offer “vote centers”, allowing you to vote at any location that’s convenient to you within the county. Otherwise, voters must attend their assigned polling location.
- Accessible Voting Options: If you have a disability or need language assistance, your county election office can provide accommodations to ensure every Arizonan can vote privately and independently.
When you’ve decided how and when to vote, write down your plan, including dates, times, and locations, to make the process seamless and stress-free.
Step 4: Find Your Voting Location
Finding where to vote is simple with our Voter Dashboard. The dashboard includes maps, addresses, and hours for early voting sites, Election Day locations, and official ballot drop boxes in your county.
With vote centers, you’re no longer limited to a single location; vote where it’s most convenient, whether that’s near home, work, or school.
We encourage voters to confirm their location details ahead of time, as some sites may change between elections.
Step 5: Track Your Ballot
Transparency is at the heart of Arizona’s elections. That’s why we make ballot tracking available to every early voter.
After you mail or drop off your ballot, you can sign up for text or email notifications to get real-time updates when your ballot is received and counted. You can also check your ballot status anytime on your county recorder’s website or through the Voter Dashboard.
Ballot tracking helps you stay informed and confident that your vote was counted securely and accurately.
