How Clean Funding Works


There are two funding options to pursue once you have decided to run for office: run as a Clean Elections candidate or a non-participating/traditional candidate.


Participating Candidates

Candidates who participate in the Clean Funding program receive funding from the Citizens Clean Elections Fund. By participating in this program, you agree to forgo special interest and high-dollar contributions.

Candidates who choose not to participate in the Clean Funding program will raise private funds and are subject to a contribution limit.

Decided to Run

After deciding to run as a candidate, it's time to get to work. Clean Elections offers various resources that outline the steps required to get your name on the ballot.

Qualifying For the Ballot
As a Clean Elections candidate, there are requirements you must meet to have your name printed on the official ballot for statewide and legislative elections, including creating your campaign committee and filing your nomination paperwork by April 4, 2022.

Campaign Finance Reporting Periods
You are required to submit a campaign finance report as a running candidate. This report outlines the contributions received and expenses made by a political committee or other political entities.

Candidate Portal
As a candidate in Arizona, you can access the Clean Elections Candidate Portal. This tool allows candidates to create a profile voters can access online and in the Voter Education Guide. The deadline to submit candidate profiles is April 08, 2024.
